Corsican-born designer Claire Maestroni takes a decidedly global approach to everything she undertakes. Raised and educated in Paris, she found herself making countless moves around the world at the beginning of her career as an international lawyer. Along with her husband, she came to the United States, in 1992, and settled in Westchester County, in the New York City area. Once there, she decided to change course and pursue her long-standing passion for interior design, graduating from Parsons School of Design, and professionalizing what had until then been her hobby of redesigning and renovating homes. Claire was quick to identify a certain lack of high-quality, well-designed products in the home furnishing retail market, and she started seeking out manufacturers abroad for the products she considered to be the best. Her first design business, an intimate retail and interior consulting shop in Greenwich, Connecticut, opened in 2004, was filled with window treatment solutions and furniture from France, Italy, and Belgium. A flair for blending contemporary and traditional design – the combination of sleek lines and interesting textures with one-of-a-kind pieces – quickly established Claire’s reputation in the area and her business grew so much that plans for expansion had to be draw up just two years after opening. In April 2007, Claire unveiled Mis en Scene, an impressive 3,500 square feet interior design showroom in the center of Greenwich’s Design District. The collections she has since showcased include solutions for every possible design concern and from every corner of the world, including the United States, answering her clients’ desire for customization and personality. Her contacts with designers and manufacturers worldwide have enabled her to offer a selection unrivaled anywhere in the area, and to seriously compete with the more traditional design destinations of New York City.
